There will be some instructions on building a rootfs and kernel using Openembedded to build an Angstrom distro. Each of those pages has good getting started instructions which will need to be followed before the eSeries kernel can be built. So for now start there and hopefully the kernel recipes will be ready by the time your gpe-image is.
